Stop working on huge goals, do this instead

Perhaps you’ve heard about the concept of becoming 1% better everyday. At first it doesn’t seem special or sexy. People always talk about big goals. You know, ‘shooting for the stars, landing on the moon etc.’

But aiming for 1% improvement every day can become a lot sexier when you add consistency to it. This idea comes from the bible of self-improvement: Atomic Habits.

If you improve your life by one percent everyday for 365 days, you become 38 times better in the process.

The math behind becoming 38x better in a year.

When most people start out with improving something they focus on intensity: going to the gym 6 times a week, crash diets and monk mode.

While this can be effective for some, most people burn out and fall back into bad habits (me included). A constant up-and-down effect of feeling motivation followed by crashing down.

What helped me more was focusing on consistency in different areas of life. Slowly adapting to better circumstances and focusing on the long run:

  • Progressive overloading in the gym

  • Eating a little bit healthier each month

  • Deep work habits during the week and fun during the weekends

By retargeting your focus from big audacious goals to smaller habits your stress will evaporate. The improvements starts to feel more tangible and slowly but surely you improve your baseline.

Improvement compounds on itself and over time you will become unrecognizable.

This concept of improving your life in all areas and focusing on continuous improvement is what this brand and newsletter will all be about.

With this daily email newsletter we aim to get 1% better in:

  • Fitness and health

  • Work and productivity

  • Mindset

  • Financial literacy

Keep improving 👊
