This one journal hack makes you fall asleep faster
And frees the mind of negativity
Imagine this: You had a long day full of work and activities. You can't wait to get to sleep and recover. But, as soon as your head hits the pillow…
…every thought possible starts creeping through your mind in loops. Before you know it, you’ve been awake for 2 hours. Thoughts race from the funny joke you could have made to rethinking your career.
Well, this was me every single night a few months ago. I craved good sleep, but I couldn’t shut off my mind when laying in bed.
I needed a way to stop these thinking loops when laying in bed, and found an interesting strategy.
They did an interesting study on evening journaling. They found that gratitude correlated with fewer negative thoughts at bedtime. This led to falling asleep quicker and sleeping for longer.
I wish this was my evening view
Writing out your thoughts in a journal and being grateful rewires your brain. It makes your thoughts more positive. This reduces the stress you may feel when going to bed.
Actions steps and tips I’m implementing:
Getting an evening journal close to my bed
Writing down 3 simple things I’m grateful for
Writing down 3 wins I had that day
Keep improving 👊
