This anti-routine has made my mornings more productive

Keeping it short and fast

We all know that guy who fits every imaginable habit into their 3 hour morning routine (I used to be one of them). Meditation, ice baths, walking, grounding, reading a whole book, the list goes on…

Many people use this with the intention of increasing productivity and focus. But when you dig deeper into it, you’re most productive when actually doing the work.

If a routine takes 2 hours to complete every morning, it’s 2 hours of not doing the work. In other words procrastinating on it.

People can even become dependent on their routines. They might say: ‘I can’t get the work done if I haven’t completed my morning routine activities’.

This is dangerous, it becomes a crutch and makes people weak. It’s a person we can all beat with a little bit of discipline.

Successful people might have routines. But many times:

They don’t do the routine to become successful, but because they became successful.

I started implementing the anti-routine concept by Alex Hormozi since I realized this.

My morning routines became shorter, 30 minutes max:

  • I wake up

  • Take electrolytes, creatine, water and supplements

  • Hop under a warm shower for 3 minutes to wake up

  • Make my bed

  • Drink a cup of coffee and start the work day

Morning routines do give a lot of structure in chaotic lives and schedules. Especially in the lives of entrepreneurs and self-employed people. Structure, routine and consistency are the key drivers to results and success.

And morning routines definitely contribute to the structure that’s needed in life.

But when taken too far, morning routines become counter productive. Re-evaluate your morning routine. Do this so you won't become a pracrastinator.

And a bonus tip for your mornings: Leave your phone off for the first few work hours.

Keep improving 👊
